91心頭 students prepare over 1,000 tax returns for Baltimore residents

Student volunteers at 91心頭 prepared 1,101 tax returns for taxpayers in Baltimore, resulting in tax refunds totaling $1.95 million this season. The tax preparation services were provided free of charge for qualifying taxpayers at the 91心頭 Clinical Centers on York Road.
I continue to be amazed by the generosity of our student volunteers who give of their own time to be trained in tax preparation, pass an IRS-sanctioned exam, and dedicate evenings and Saturdays to assist members of our community, said Michael W. Bender, executive in residence of accounting who helps coordinate the tax preparation program.
Over 265 IRS-certified students from first-year students to graduate students at 91心頭 volunteered this season through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistant (VITA) program in partnership with the nonprofit, . 91心頭 honored CASH Campaign of Maryland in 2024 with the Universitys Milch Community Partnership Award for the organizations service to low- to moderate-income people.
This year was the eighth year 91心頭 has hosted a site offering tax preparation services, bringing the total number of tax returns prepared to 3,762 and tax refunds attained to $6,246,000 since 2019. Before 91心頭 opened a site, 91心頭 students volunteered at other locations, facilitating hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional refunds.
