Innovation Discovery & Validation Studio (IDVS) is a cross-disciplinary Free Elective designed to equip students with structured innovation and validation competencies. This course focuses on developing disciplined validation capability, learning how to identify meaningful problems, engage stakeholders responsibly, test assumptions systematically, interpret evidence critically and make informed decisions to pivot, persevere, or discontinue an idea. Students apply the HPI Design Thinking framework to conduct real interviews, synthesize insights, ideate responsibly, and test solution hypotheses before committing to action.

On completing the course, students will be able to:

• Apply the HPI Design Thinking framework to conduct structured problem validation using qualitative and quantitative methods 
• Analyze stakeholder insights and validation data to refine problem statements and develop evidence-based solution hypotheses
• Evaluate validation findings and reflect critically on pivot, persevere, or kill decisions
